If you are a citizen of Singapore your child will have many areas of their education subsidised or otherwise helped by the government. Your child may for example, qualify for the Edusave scheme if they demonstrate aptitude in one or more areas (academically or otherwise). Citizens of Singapore will also be eligible for lower student fees in both private and public education sectors.
Furthermore only citizens are eligible for the Primary Care Partnership Scheme which helps those in areas without local polyclinics near in order to provide private healthcare dentistry and routine outpatient treatment at low prices. If you are not a citizen you will not be eligible for this program, and this could be a program that is imperative to you and your child.
You and your child will also receive a medical subsidiary if a resident whereas a Permanent resident will get less of a subsidiary and a visitor no subsidiary. You are also entitled to 16 weeks maternity leave, of which the first eight weeks must be funded by your employer and the last eight weeks funded by the government. You also get six days paid leave per year, per parent for the first seven years of your child’s life.
